When I started floral designing, it was just a way to unwind. Something about placing beautiful blooms in the right spot gave me a sense of calm I didn’t even know I needed. It wasn’t about making something perfect—it was about how I felt while I was creating.
And over time, that feeling became everything.
Floral design brings me peace, joy, and freedom. It helps me feel grounded and connected to nature. When I’m freestyling a design, I’m fully present—no anxiety, no stress, just me and the flowers. And when I step back and see what I’ve created, it always surprises me. Like, wow, I really did that. There’s a sense of confidence and accomplishment that comes with turning an idea into something beautiful—sometimes even better than I imagined. That shift alone can turn my whole day around.
Even when life gets heavy, flowers are a soft place to land. Just heading to the store to pick out stems can lift my mood. Even if I don’t love every design, the process still brings me peace. And it’s always a joy when someone else sees beauty in something I created. It reminds me that art is subjective, but connection is universal.
That’s what I hope people take away from our floral design workshops. Yes, you’ll learn design techniques. Yes, you’ll walk away with a gorgeous arrangement. But more than that? You’ll walk away feeling a little lighter, a little more connected, and a lot more confident in your own creativity.
You don’t need formal training to create something beautiful. I didn’t have any—I learned from YouTube, trial and error, and by freelancing with amazing floral designers in the D.C. area. That’s why I teach with an intuitive, feel-what-you-feel approach. There are some basic design rules I share, but we don’t obsess over them. We’re here to explore, create, and enjoy the moment.
At Garden Muses Studio, we don’t just host floral workshops—we create experiences. Safe spaces to breathe, create, and connect. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just need a break from your routine, these two hours are for you.
What lights me up the most? Seeing the looks on people’s faces when they realize, “I made this.” Or when they tell me how calm they felt during the class. That’s what it’s all about. Helping others tap into that peace and walk away with something tangible and meaningful.
So if you’re in the Washington D.C. metro area and looking for a floral design class that feels less like a lecture and more like therapy, come see what we’re about. Let flowers remind you of the beauty you can create, inside and out.

Hi! I met you at Jay‘s cookout a few months ago. I’d like to know the process of being a guest host for your flower arranging workshop. Can you please show more details? I’m sure my waxing salon community would love it. Thanks for your response.
